Being a more (pro)active scientist
Every month, at 7pm on the second Monday, we host an outreach event for members and for non-members who are simply curious (no strings!). Over an hour, a typically short presentation is followed by lively discussion and insight.
Previous illuminating topics have included:
- Reflecting on new beginnings: is the knowledge we have a gift or a responsibility?
- This challenge needs a new approach
- All I want for Christmas….is a liveable future for my children: a parent’s perspective on activism
- Saying goodbye to the universe: from academia to art
- How to mobilise your research community: the case of the British Ecological Society
- What one scientist can do in a planetary emergency (a recording is available here)
- How to organise a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing (a recording is available here)
Our Autumn 2026 programme looks set to be equally stimulating:
14 Sept - A climate revolution happened in France. Why can't it happen in the UK? (Juliet Nolan & Caroline Vincent)
12 Oct - Engaging with right-wing media (Jason Scott-Warren)
9 Nov - How podcasts can help communicate complex environmental issues (Neil Haddaway)
14 Dec - tbc
You can register here for any or all of them. Guaranteed, you will hear interesting presentations and connect with like-minded scientists across all disciplines. Come along!
